MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE BRIEF

From being briefed this brief I understand I have to produce for this live brief is an 7 inch record sleeve, front and back for one of the 7 songs listed above, which I must upload to the Secret 7 webpage before 9th February. Before I complete this brief though I must ensure I undertake several other tasks. I should research into existing record sleeve designs for the bands to see what kind of style they have already been produced in. I should also look at record sleeves in general to discover different styles that have been used for record sleeves. I should also research record sleeve designs from previous Secret 7 competitions, to get an idea of the kind of designs that are successful in this competition, I could perhaps research some of the designers who have previously won this competition as well, to gain inspiration for my own designs. The main focus of this competition is the band and the song that the record sleeve is going to be designed for, so I must ensure I research the song in detail and also the band as well, and any imagery which is related to them, perhaps previous record sleeves or music videos, even their webpage as well. As well as extensive research I have to produce 30 thumbnail designs experimenting my designs for one or more of the songs I am thinking about using for my final record sleeve, to see which song I have the most ideas for, which I may not realise before. From this I should refine my designs and produce 5 final designs for preferably one song I have chosen. From these designs I should choose my final record sleeve design that I can refine if necessary, and upload to the Secret 7 website.
