OUGD504 STUDIO BRIEF ONE - FEEDBACK SESSION

I presented my work to the group on this project which I had undertaken so far, and wrote down questions I wanted my peers and tutors to answer about my work, so that I could direct the kind of feedback I wanted to achieve. I got some really positive and useful feedback which I will consider when moving forth with this brief.

Question One:
Pencil tooled traced title or typeface title?
Answers:
I personally like the more 'hand made' and rough look of the pencil tooled title. It's also more unique.
Looks like a typeface but with a more loving feel.
I like the handmade look more personally.
Handmade will reflect the design process well.

Question Two:
Colour choices? Green perhaps? Or similar to inspiration photographs?
Answers:
The green sits well, but I think maybe a orange from the inspo or neon red, as it wouldn't look as dated.
LOVE TEAL. Looks professional and creative at the same time.
The green looks nice, maybe couple it with mustard or bright orange?
Mated colours would work best in my opinion.
I think you need to consider how you would like to communicate the process. Green is relaxing - but this is not the case with design.

Question Three:
Leaflet will have repeat pattern/gradient on the back, thoughts?
Answers:
Like the idea would be eye catching, however if you're keeping the green I don't think it would work.
I'd prefer a pattern, perhaps something relevant to the theme. Gradients are overused.
I love gradients! That would look very nice.
I love repeated patterns!

Question Four:
Thoughts on illustrations? Suggestions for different images e.g. development, production, experimentation, completion.
Answers:
Works well, will look good!
I like the informal look of the illustrations you've used so far - but you could maybe try to incorporate a little more white space - they look a little cramped.
Maybe keep to 1 illustration per section? I like the style of them though, matches with the typeface.
I like the simple illustrations as it doesn't overpower the information.
Experimentation - maybe science themed like test tubes? Might not be appropriate though.

Question Five:
Anything you'd change/opinions generally?
Answers:
Works well, will look good.
I think the smaller type needs to be more wobbly and not straight along the bottom to give a more hand written feel.

Question Six:
What do you think of the text on "brief"?
Answers:
Playful and fun.
Text looks great, works well and isn't too overwhelming.

Question Seven:
You can see the content on the highest peak when closed, is this a problem? Should I make sure this viewable section stays blank? Should I ensure it blends in with the rest of the front cover and back side?
Answers:
Should be hidden, would look neater and have a nicer finish.
I think it would look neater and more professional if it stayed blank. If possible of course.
Definitely try and hide it if you can, or incorporate it into the design.

Direction:
After reading through this feedback I have received I am going to experiment more with my colour combinations, and experiment with the body text as being more on curves rather than straight lines. I am also going to make more room on each section by using only one illustration on each stage, and perhaps making some of the slightly smaller so that there's more space around them to breathe. I will also create a pattern for the back cover, perhaps one with a gradient so you can see the different colours when it's folded together. I am also going to try and hide the content on the tallest peak, so that it doesn't interfere with the patterns.
