OUGD504 STUDIO BRIEF TWO: REQUIREMENTS

After researching Charlotte Shane and Prostitute Laundry, I have come up with some requirements which I think are necessary for the logo to be, guided by some of the things that Charlotte has commented on on her Kickstarter page. These requirements will be essential when creating designs for my logo, as I must ensure I try and accommodate as many of these aspects as possible, to fulfil as much of what I want and Charlotte Shane wants the logo and book to look like.
I have contacted Charlotte Shane herself about if she were to have a logo what she would like to it to look like or represent or feel like, however she hasn't replied as of yet. Her feedback would be incredibly useful to give me more of a direct guidance with this brief.

Colours
- Pale pink
- Grey
- White
- Pale blue
- Black
- French, feminine colours
- Glitter?
I chose these colours as possibilities due to Charlotte Shane's profile picture across all of her online accounts, as it is in black and white, and she looks very feminine and elegant with her hair tied back and black, winged eyeliner. However her staring, unsmiling expression shows that she means business as well, so not something too girly or joking. The starting shot of her Kickstarter video as well made me choose these colours, as she was wearing a pale pink shirt, and all the colours were quite pale and feminine, but with elements of black and darker colours as well, showing two sides to her.
- Red
- Neon Pink
- Gold?
I may also consider using some of these colours as well to show the darker side to one of her industries, the sex industry, as I feel it is important not to just ignore that aspect of her, as she has made it prominent in the content of her letters.

Typeface
- Hand written style (Alex Chung's IT book)
- Serif? - or a modern serif?
- All on one line

Reproducibility/adaptability
- Classy, simple
- Type based
- PL (initials) logo?
- Letter press
- Digital
- Emboss
- One/two colour logo + background

Clients needs
- Something practical
- Tactile
- Works on a paperback book
- Durable and friendly
- Cares about how it responds to you
- Looks better with wear/age
- Something that's crafted, unique, loved
- Tender, exploring, intimate, sprawled
- With personality, not necessarily confined to a grid/rules/structure

Communication
- Empowered women
- Feminine
- Maybe suggest to sex industry
- Simple
- Text based

What my logo must do
- Work on large and small scale
- Work on a website, book cover, envelope etc
- Work with different background colours
- Potentially work as a repeat pattern
