Following on from the feedback session, the first change was to decide on a new page size for the book, as it was commented that it was a bit too small and therefore fiddly, and being so small it appeared almost throwaway. To create new sizes, and to see what they actually felt like in your hand, they were drawn out on A4 paper, to make sure they fit on, and then cut out and folded, to get the most accurate idea of what they will look like as a book as possible.
This was the initial new size, which followed on from the comments to try and make it as tall and thin as possible, which resulted in making it as tall as would fit neatly on A4 as possible, and only increasing the width by 1cm per page. This however resulted in it looking too much like a leaflet shape, which was also backed up by another peer. |
Instead the leaflet was increased to 10cm width and 160cm height, which is a slightly stockier shape than the previous one, however is still taller and thinner than the original size. Being slightly stockier also means that it looks less like a leaflet, giving it that added sophistication, and making it look more like a book as well. |
This page size was then applied to the original book, which as you can see means there are a lot of adjustments to make with the sizes of the photographs in particular. This may take a while however it would needed to be done anyway as the duo tones are being changed. |
Changing the size of the pages will hopefully make the book look more like a book than a handout or a leaflet, and make it less fiddly to read, but more sturdy like a book. However this will only really be able to be seen when the next mock up is produced.
