OUGD505 STUDIO BRIEF TWO - MOCK UP

I produced a black and white mock up of the initial guide layout to see how it's all working so far.

Front cover. Great and effective. Can't wait to see how the leaves pop in colour. Surprisingly the lines that make up the main title can still be seen, for some reason I expected them to bleed into a block shape like your average typeface.

First spread. It was a mistake I can see now to have the only double spread not in the middle, as the text is right over the centre so it's never going to be perfect. This must be changed.

Instead this is the central page. Everything looks as it should be, however the left title looks really far up, the gap in between the title and content looks too large, perhaps this should be changed.

Tips and tricks continued. Like the effects of deforestation spread, it is odd how I haven't made it on a double spread, but across two sides, as it doesn't flow great. As well in the organisations title, it appears really high up on the page, this should definitely be lowered.

Back cover. Sleek, simple way to finish it off.

I am fairly pleased with the guide so far, as it isn't a complete disaster and there are several redeeming points to it, such as the front and back cover. The effects of deforestation spread needs to be in the middle of the book, and the tips and tricks spread should be on the same spread rather than across two different pages so that it flows better. The titles should be moved down a little, except for tips and tricks which the content results in it being at the top. It also surprised me for some reason that the guide is only printed on two pieces of paper, which is a really small amount. Yeah it saves paper and therefore the environment, but for such a small guide you'd expect a different bind. Therefore there will be more pages that will be added to make it into a 3 piece of paper guide, to bulk it out a little and to add even more information to the guide. Also, there is content on the inside front and back covers, which aesthetically doesn't work great, so these will be left blank.
