To help me with Studio Brief 4, and to support my research from Studio Brief 3, I carried out a bit of further research on cosmetic surgery. I discovered two women who have had extensive plastic surgery to make themselves look as much like Barbie as possible, one woman who has also had plastic surgery to make herself look like an anime character, and one man who has has a ton of plastic surgery to make himself look like Ken, Barbie's boyfriend. I thought this extremely fascinating, and I could include these people in my posters, to show just how unrealistic and deformed they now look.
VALERIA LUKYANOVA
Valeria was the first real life Barbie doll to take the world by storm. She is 23 years old and comes from Ukraine. There is a YouTube video showing her before and after photographs, and it is quite frankly extremely shocking. She got some really mixed comments on the video:

i believe in natural so i believe she was more beautiful before. She is sort of unrealistically beautiful now....
She will always be herself and will always be truly beautiful though. ( even if the surgery had had the opposite affect, if you see what i mean) and i hope that she achieves her dream of breatharianism... that would be truly liberating....
i want to believe this is possible myself, but have trouble.
It is believed that Valeria has undertaken many cosmetic surgery operations to achieve this look, and is also starving herself to stay this skinny, living on a diet of fruit and vegetables.

OLGA ‘DOMINICA’ OLEYNIK
Olga is Valeria’s human-Barbie twin, also from Ukraine. The two of them met online 7 years ago, and now host spirituality lectures at £50 a time.
Olga has undergone similar surgeries to Valeria to create her doll-like appearance. Both have icy blue eyes, a skinny waist that looks smaller than her breasts, a smooth tummy, massive breasts, an immaculately shaped nose and lone blonde hair.

ANASTASIYA SHPAGINA
Anastasiya is also from Ukraine, and similarly to Valeria and Olga, has also had extensive plastic surgery to achieve her look of a real life Anime doll. This is the aim for a lot of girls, mainly from East Asia and Japan, and her "flower fairy" make up tutorial video on YouTube has got more than 6.7 million views.
“According to the Daily Mail, the anime aficionado is 5 feet 2 inches and approximately 85 pounds, and she spends up to 30 minutes on each eye when applying makeup so that she can more closely resemble the cartoons she admires. Shpagina is even considering surgery to make her eyes look even more anime-like, reports the Daily Mail.” - Huffington Post

JUSTIN JEDLICA
Justin Jedlica is a real life Ken doll, Barbie's 'boyfriend'. He has had over 100 cosmetic procedures to achieve his look, costing over £61,000, some including buttock, pectoral and bicep implants, and he says he isn't finished with his surgery yet, according to the Huffington Post.

I also found what would happen if a woman had Barbie's proportions, from research done by Nickolay Mann “According to Nickolay Mann Barbie would have a 9-inch neck circumference compared to the average girl's 15-inch neck, and a 45cm waist compared with the normal 85cm. Another study on the body shape of barbie conducted last month revealed that Barbie’s ankles and wrists would be so skinny that she would have to crawl on all fours to walk, her neck would leave her incapable of lifting her head, and her stomach would only have room for half a liver and a few inches of intestine.”
