OUGD405 STUDIO BRIEF 1 - PHOTOSHOP INDUCTION 2

Today I have had another Photoshop induction to teach us how to use Photoshop properly, and the fundamentals of it. This session we learned how to adjust a scan of a sketch, how to remove the smudges using the "spot healing tool" and how to use levels to adjust the black and white ratio of a sketch. We also learned how we can use the filter gallery to make a low quality, very pixellated image usable. I then added these two images to my Avatar poster.

Original batman sketch.

Manipulated Batman sketch.

Batman sketch added to my Avatar poster. I changed the layer mode to "multiply" to create this effect, and also changed the hue and saturation of the sketch on adjustments to give it a dark blue colour, one that fits in a lot better with the overall colour of the poster.

Original low quality photograph.
The same photograph with a "cutout" filter applied to it. I also deleted the background as well, which was in two different colours so that only the outline of the man was visible.
The man added to my Avatar poster. I used the eraser tool to remove part of the top of his head to help him blend better into the poster. I used 0% hardness and a reduced opacity so it wasn't such a harsh line. I like how the background of the poster comes through in his face, as this gives him a kind of menacing appearance, so that he looks like a baddy.
This is my Avatar poster with all of the added elements to it that I have achieved in this Photoshop session. I am very pleased with the outcome of it, although I do think it is rather crammed full of different people.
