On thing that should be included on the design boards along with the brief itself and my understanding of the brief, should be the aims for the brief, what aims to be achieved during this book, things to research, or things that want to be achieved, such as a portfolio piece or to really focus on the research or a particular aspect. This will also help when evaluating the brief as well, as there will be something solid to reflect back upon.
A major and rather important point which was raised was to focus more on the production rather than the aesthetic of the designs, as this is the name of the module, design production, and three of the learning outcomes which we are marked against are to do with the production, so this is quite a significant aspect which needs to be addressed more thoroughly.
It was also brought up that it would be beneficial to state how the research that has been undertook has informed the design, for example with studio brief one, the research on the design boards is very easy to see how it has informed the design of my own leaflet, however this should be more clearly stated on the design boards, not only aesthetically but also in the production methods as well.
It was suggested for studio brief one to look more closely into die cutting and laser cutting, as this is something that closely relates to the production of the leaflet, and would be beneficial to research to learn the process.
This tutorial has been really beneficial to direct the next brief, and to add aspects to previous briefs that are missing, which will boost up the final grade. This tutorial has also shown me to focus more on the production rather than the aesthetic, so the next brief will be focused differently because of this. It has also reassured me that I'm on the right track and not lagging behind like ti sometimes feels like, which has given me the confidence to crack on.
