OUGD505 STUDIO BRIEF ONE - SCREEN PRINTING & FINAL NOTES

Initially I wanted to print the notes 2, 5 and 10, however I couldn't fit them all on my screen because of the way I had done the Brusho, doing one A4 for each note, which had to be translated exactly for the screen so it is aligned right. This resulted in two A4 sheets for each bank note, and I could only fit four A4 sheets on the one screen, and didn't want to have two screens as this would take up additional time, I so only screen printed the two notes. I made the decision to do 2 and 5 reais as I thought the pattern would look the most effective once printed, and thought the Brusho filled the space up more effectively.

Final 2 reais bank notes screen printed before they were cut out.

Initially I wanted to use a UV Spot Varnish for the pattern, however when I tried printing with it it just didn't come through the screen and blocked it a bit, due to the syrup like thickness of the spot varnish and the really fine pattern. Instead I used white ink, which gave a similar effect, if not being slightly more prominent which works more effectively in filling the white space. Due to the not transparent qualities of the ink I thought it would be quite visible over the Brusho, however you can hardly notice it's there which is good.

Fain 5 reais bank notes before they've been cut out.

The white pattern is slightly tinged in orange in some places, which I think is due to the Brusho being brushed over it in the printing process. This makes the white pattern stand out slightly more though.
