What am I looking at?
Looking at deforestation of the Amazon, what the main factors are (cattle ranching, logging, mining) and how this is effecting us (national, global, climate change, crop yields and indigenous people).
What do I want to know?
- Potential outcomes
- Should I focus outcomes at a specific area of deforestation/target audience?
- Any suggestions for research areas/outcomes/other
- Any other comments please
Feedback:
One:
Maybe doing something digital about it. Maybe a game? Target audience should be people who can change it e.g the youth. Covering most of the rainforest but focusing on issues e.g. deforestation is the issue, looking at areas effected and areas in danger. Making it different and new there is a lot about it so be different. Don't make it printed because you're talking about deforestation - if it is fully recycled paper.
Two:
Pick a topic that is surrounding us (like global warming) and why we choose to ignore it? What campaign can you create that will be interactive and informing. Making a younger generation more aware of this as it will affect them more in years to come. See why we ignore deforestation and global warming. What can we do to stop this?
Three:
Campaign for the halt of deforestation and the direct impact on man kind and wildlife? One area will be easier to focus on and an audience. I feel our age or older. Research into palm oil - it's really important you can see many issue surrounding deforestation, you should be able to link this with big companies such as 'Cadbury'. Just more research and a focused area pick something you feel is ignored and you are passionate about.
Four:
Focusing on one specific area would be more informative - one area for this then 'potential' to expand in real world. Choosing a specific target audience would make design/content easier and more specific. Maybe think of how to approach it/tone of voice? Hard hitting/humour - get people to change or just get people to talk? Narrow it down (increase methods) then just start designing? If it's not working research more later maybe?
Five:
Pick one topic you listed. Global warming effects everyone but more-so the younger generation so I would think about targeting youths to become more aware of this and make a change.
Six:
This is a very large topic but something a lot of people can get behind. Not enough is being done in a global scale but we can still do our own part which could be the focus of the work. Should decide on a specific are (like really specific) and focus on that. Also decide the aim of it e.g. against governments or for the everyday person. I think a look at how deforestation effects indigenous people could be really interesting, as it is a fresh angle that could help people to think of the issue differently.
Actions:
This is all useful feedback, and I will definitely follow up on it. I think the next stage will be to define a specific area that I want to focus on, such as logging or climate change, and then identify exactly what the problems are, choose a problem and then decide on who needs to be made aware/taught, the target audience. This should then direct me to the products that should be produced. More research should be undertaken into the specific area, and to find out some key facts. Research should also be undertaken into graphic design outcomes of deforestation in general and then in the area I'm focusing on and the products I'm thinking of produced.
