After careful consideration I am going to produce a guide to sustainability for the governments across the world. This will show how they should be more stringent on their import laws for wood, and tighten monitoring of this. It will also discuss how they can be more sustainable in their offices, such as turning off lights, not keeping computers on overnight, and energy saving solutions. It will also show how they can be more sustainable in their everyday lives, with things that they would get from the rainforest normally, such as toilet paper, furniture, vegetables or fruits, coffee even. There will also be a section on the impact of deforestation of the rainforest globally, so they know the impact it may have on their lives in the future, or their children's lives.
A digital version will be available for download, but it will also be produced printed as well, using a folding technique that makes the most of the paper, perhaps a hot dog fold that has a promotional poster on the back to show your support. The stock used for this will be recycled, ideally it'd be great to make the paper myself however this wouldn't be viable for commercial distribution. I'd also like to screen print the guide as well, which is a slightly more environmentally friendly process that digitally printing, however I will need to examine whether it is actually more environmentally friendly these days with technology being as advanced and efficient as it is. Also, depending how long it takes to produce the guide, there may not be enough time, or the facilities available when I need them to be to screen print.
The guide will focus mainly on how to be sustainable regarding things that come from the Amazon and rainforests in general, but will also cover things that will help reduce energy and water waste, which deforestation of the Amazon affects.
The guide will be produced in three different languages, English, Portuguese and French, as I feel these are the main languages that would be spoken in Europe and South America, where this guide is targeting.
