After producing the latest mock up, and deciding to have a page promoting another outcome for this brief, I thought it would be best to see how far this brief could stretch to, what all the other possible outcomes could of been, and what I'm actually going to produce for it.

Firstly, the guide will be produced in a variety of languages such as English, Portuguese and French, as these are the main languages spoken around the world, and Portuguese instead of Spanish because Brasilians speak Portuguese where the Amazon rainforest is. The guide will also be available in digital format on ISSUU so people can access it without having to print it out, which saves costs a lot and is much more sustainable. There will also be a poster available in digital and print format which can be put up in offices, work areas, and at home to promote sustainability and protecting the rainforests. An app will also be produced for your phone to monitor your sustainability. You can input how you've travelled (around and to/from work), time spent in front of a screen, if you've printed anything, and if you've used any machinery, as well as your day to day habits, which will track how much energy and resources you've used, and therefore how sustainable you're living. This will work in a similar way to a fitness app where you can input your meals and exercise to track your progress. Further areas for development could be a mobile or tablet game to teach people about the rainforest and being sustainable, whilst also being fun. It could be something similar to Viva Pinata or Farm Ville where you have to grow plants and cultivate animals to gain money and points. Something that's fun and interactive that all age groups will enjoy playing. I could also produce a campaign website to promote sustainability and where you can learn more about the world's rainforests and how tor educe your carbon footprint and live more environmentally friendly. Here you could also support your select charity through the website by donating money to the cause, like a Just Giving kind of thing where you can share your support across social media to get others involved. I could also produce seed packet designs or a plant your own tree pack as well, which could be sent out as a gift when you donate perhaps, or sent out in general to those companies who import wood, to get people to add something back to the environment. |
There are so many different directions that I could go down with this brief, however for now I think I'm going to stick to the guide, poster, and either the app or plant your tree pack. If I had all the time in the world I'd do everything, but I have to pick my choices here.
