During this brief I have found it challenging experimenting with colour, trying to find colours that work well together but that still reflect the kind of emotions I want to portray in my leaflet. I have discovered I can acknowledge when colours look effective together on existing products, and I can put colours together when I am given a selection of initial colours, however I find it really difficult to find the colours for myself in the colour picker wheel that work effectively together. I also struggled trying to get the dimensions of my leaflet accurate, especially with my initial wrap around fold, where I didn't realise I had to gradually increase the width of each section to account for the fold building up, when resulted in mock ups not fitting properly.
One of my strengths in this brief I feel was creating the illustrations for the different stages and the back cover pattern, as I had a good sense of how to portray each stage visually. Having a drawing tablet was really useful for this brief as well as it meant I could draw the illustrations straight ontoIllustrator without having to draw them using pencil on paper and scan them in and manipulate or trace them, which definitely saved a lot of time. I am also pleased with how I have managed my time during this brief as I successfully finished pretty much all of the designing before the weekend, with only minor adjustments following on from the critiques to be done. I have also kept up with blogging and have started on my design boards, so that when I start the next brief I won't have to worry about making my design boards as well as that brief's as well.
If I was to change anything about the way I have undergone this brief I would try and experiment more with vector style illustrations, similar to some designers I found in my research, just to see how a slight change in style affected the feel of my leaflet. I'd also like to of done more primary research, however for me time didn't allow for this.
