OUGD504 STUDIO BRIEF ONE - FINAL OUTCOME

Final printed outcome:

Front closed view. In this accordion fold you can clearly see the different stages of the leaflet through the alternating patterned back design and the coloured inside pages. I created the title on the front page with a lower opacity white square behind the text so that you can still just about see the pattern behind, but this allows the title to be read easier and not blend into the pattern, as the title is quite a low stroke weight.

Back closed view. I chose not to include anything on the back as with the pattern I thought it may look a bit crowded, and there wasn't anything that I necessarily needed to include anyway, so I didn't want to just put something there for the sake of it.

This is the fully open view of the leaflet. You can clearly see how each stage progresses through the use of slowly darkening shades of teal going from left to right. The illustrations are clear in black, and even with the darkest background colour you can still clearly read the information. The continuous feedback arrows are in the same orange shade as underlines the title, to slightly incorporate some of that colour, as the orange and teal work effectively together as contrasting colours, and it makes the leaflet look less turquoise as well.

Back view of open leaflet. Here you can see the gradient from turquoise to an orange shade on the illustration pattern.

This is how the leaflet will open out, so you can read it like a normal book or you can open it fully and read it as a poster. I like how you can open it page by page and the pattern and inside colour sections can still be seen above, as this adds some interest to the appearance.

After making changes to my designs as suggested in past feedback and printing on a lighter stock, I am much happier with the outcome of this leaflet. The teal shades on the inside of the leaflet combined with the black illustrations make a much more sophisticated appearance, and don't look as jumbled. The smaller sized illustrations mean you can see them more fully when closed from the front. The accordion fold is much easier to use and folds up neater as well. If I was to change anything I would perhaps experiment with different styles of illustrations, perhaps trying more icon style rather than hand drawn, however this would of changed the overall aesthetic and feel of the leaflet.
